    What you are looking at

The screens above are a working mock-up, not a customer's real account. The names, boats and balances are sample data. What is not invented is the structure: a portal user signs in against your site, sees only their own records, and can act on them without emailing you first.

Most of the load a portal takes off an office is not dramatic. It is the copy of an invoice, the date a mooring runs out, the insurance certificate that needs re-sending, the question of whether a payment landed. Each one is a two-minute job that arrives at the worst moment. Answering them once, in a place the customer can go back to, is the whole argument for giving them a login.

The portal is per customer, not per site: a boat owner who keeps a berth with you and books a service job sees both in the same place. You choose who gets access and what they can do with it, and access ends when their record does.
